Irshad Ahmad Mir
Resident Artist
Irshad Ahmad Mir is an artist whose journey through art has been shaped by consistency, observation, and an enduring relationship with practice. Trained in painting, his work moves between structured design and expressive form, reflecting both his professional grounding and personal exploration.
Working since the late 1990s as a painting designer and fine artist, Irshad has remained closely connected to the applied and visual arts landscape of Kashmir. His early years were marked by active participation in state and national exhibitions, where he developed a visual language informed by both academic training and cultural context.
Alongside his studio practice, he has contributed as an educator, sharing foundational drawing and artistic principles with younger learners. His involvement in workshops—ranging from public awareness initiatives to academic programs—reveals an artist engaged not only with creation, but with the social role of art.
Irshad’s works have been exhibited across institutional spaces including the University of Kashmir and Fine Arts College Srinagar, with solo and group shows that trace his steady artistic evolution. His pieces form part of collections such as Jamia Millia Islamia and other academic institutions, situating his practice within a wider dialogue of Indian art.
His approach to art is neither hurried nor overt, it is patient, deliberate and grounded. Through line, composition, and material, Irshad continues to explore the quiet strength of painting as both craft and expression.
At HunarGaah, he brings with him not just experience, but a sense of continuity an artist shaped by time, contributing to a space that looks toward the future.
